1. AAP leader Kapil Mishra has appointed as the new Law Minister of Delhi and he will succeed Jitender Tomar who had stepped down after being arrested over fake degree allegations.
Kapil Mishra was placed in the crucial Jal Board to help realise the Aam Aadmi Party’s election promise of providing cheap water to Delhiites.
2. India’s low-cost Mangalyaan Mars orbiter mission was chosen for the Space Pioneer award for the year 2015 by the US’ National Space Society. Space Pioneer award for the year 2015 was presented to Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in the Science and Engineering category during the 34th Annual International Space Development Conference held at Toronto in Canada during in May this year.
3. India’s current account deficit (CAD) dropped sharply to USD 1.3 billion, or 0.2% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), in the fourth quarter of the last financial year 2014-15 on a sequential basis mainly due to a lower trade gap.
The CAD drops to 1.3% of GDP for full financial year 2014-15. On a quarter-on-quarter basis, CAD narrowed sharply to USD 1.3 billion (0.2% of GDP) in fourth quarter of financial year 2014-15 from USD 8.3 billion (1.6% of GDP) in the third quarter,” as per the Reserve Bank data.
